The Ellen O’Brien Gaiser Center is proud to partner with Butler County Community College to host a crucial community conversation about addiction and recovery issues.

Gaiser Partners with Butler County Prison

The Ellen O’Brien Gaiser Center will provide medication management and counseling services to inmates at Butler County Prison, aiding incarcerated individuals with addictions as they prepare for a healthy re-entry to society.

Gaiser Executive Director Celebrates First Year on the Job

The Gaiser Center has tackled both nuts and bolts tasks and aspirational goals since Joe Mahoney first took the helm as executive director on May 24, 2021. Center of Excellence

Recognized among a select number of facilities statewide, the Ellen O’Brien Gaiser Center was named a Center of Excellence for inpatient treatment of opioid use disorders by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. Centers of Excellence are designed not only to treat individuals for addiction, but to improve their overall health and wellbeing, coordinating care across multiple domains.

Battling Epidemic

As a child, Dr. C. Thomas Brophy watched family members struggle with drug and alcohol addiction. Now he’s dedicating his career to helping others battle substance abuse.

Full-time Medical Director

Join us in welcoming C. Thomas Brophy, DO, one of the region’s few board-certified Addiction Medicine physicians, as our full-time medical director. Dr. Brophy’s appointment enables the Gaiser Center to offer around-the-clock medical care for inpatients and positions the center for future growth as it further integrates Medication Assisted Treatment options into its care plans.

New Clinical Director

Effective immediately Anna Shuster, LPC, MA, CAADC has assumed the role of clinical director of the Ellen O'Brien Gaiser Center. Anna brings more than 16 years clinical experience in state licensed drug and alcohol facilities, including several clinical leadership roles, to her new position at Gaiser.

New Executive Director Named

The Ellen O'Brien Gaiser Center is pleased to welcome Joseph Mahoney, LSW, as executive director. As a licensed social worker with extensive experience in behavioral health programs, Joe is uniquely equipped to help the Gaiser Center fulfill its mission of promoting recovery in the Butler community and the broader region.

50th Anniversary Community Celebration

Join us for an outdoor catered picnic on July 21st and 22nd to help us celebrate 50 years providing recovery services to the community of Butler. Free food, fun music and great giveaways.
